Information about mental health and well-being

Most of people experience a few ‘ups’ and ‘downs’ in their lives like feeling happy, feeling sad and miserable. You might be worried

  • because you’ve got exams coming up
  • about getting a job
  • about going to college.

These can all make you feel down; as can

  • falling out with your friends or family
  • finishing a relationship.

You might you feel stressed or depressed; it’s quite common, and usually the feelings will come and go. Sometimes though you might not be able to shake off your feelings so you should talk to someone you feel that you can trust – friends, parents, your Personal Adviser or your GP as you might have a medical condition that needs some treatment.

There is also support offered by the Samaritans or on their helpline - 08457 90 90 90. You can also email Samaritans; write to Chris, PO Box 9090, Stirling, FK8 2SA or if you are deaf or hard of hearing use the single national minicom number 08457 90 91 92.
