UCAS

You can research and apply for courses

Are you considering applying to higher education?

If so you’ll need to do some research into:

  • the type of course you want to do
  • where you can do it
  • whether you’ll get the entry grades
  • if you want to have a ‘gap’ year first
  • the course fees.

Most people go to university after Year 13, so you should start your research in Year 12, and go to open days too – ask your college if they’ve got any open day visits planned that you could join. Visit Open Days to find out when you can visit.

Check our page Making applications to Higher Education

Check out these sites too:

  • UCAS allows you to search for information by subject, by university and by region, so it’s easy to use.
  • Directgov gives information on the funding and benefits that might be available to you as a higher education student.
  • GMSA Pathways can help you find out what your options are and focusses on courses in the Greater Manchester area.
  •  Yougo connects UCAS applicants with students at university.
